Interroll, the world’s one of the leading manufacturer of key products for material handling, shows its energy-efficient 24V drive technology and its powerful drum motors at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, Europe’s leading exhibition for electric automation, but also present its new solutions for the future (Stand 430, Hall 1).

New powerful Synchronous Drum Motor – Compact drive with up to 1.1 kW rating

The new Synchronous Drum Motor for high-dynamic applications will also be on show in Nuremberg. Its particularly compact design supports smaller turning diameters and thus also makes it possible to convey smaller items too. As a consequence users can handle an extended range of products. With a power rating of up to 1.1 kW, the Synchronous Drum Motor can develop an increased belt pull that ensures high and efficient throughput of the materials to be conveyed. Interroll Synchronous Drum Motors offer high torque at all speeds, maximum acceleration and braking performance, optimized power consumption, low operating temperature, and high start-stop potential for conveyor systems in various industrial sectors such as food processing or the packaging industry, as well as dynamic weighing machinery and logistic applications.

The new 1.1 kW motor has been developed for high-precision positioning. It copes effortlessly with abrupt acceleration and braking ramps and achieves unprecedented dynamic with its high torque. Its innovative motor technology and power reserves make it safe for the future. The global market launch of this product is scheduled to start in 2017.

With this drive solution the food and pharmaceutical industries have an ultra-hygienic and energy-saving option at their disposal. The construction and design of the completely enclosed drive are based on the EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) guidelines. Thanks to the complete stainless steel construction it has been possible to reduce cleaning and disinfecting times by up to 30 % as well. Furthermore, in order to ensure compliance with the stringent requirements, only materials that are certified in accordance with the specifications of USDA/FDA and the EU Regulation EC 1935/2004 are used.

Efficient 24V drive technology minimizes energy consumption

The advantages of 24V drive technology are highlighted at the Nuremberg trade fair. By contrast with conventional conveyor systems that are equipped with a drive in continuous operation, the solutions with Interroll RollerDrive make it possible to build up an intelligently controlled conveyor system divided into zones. Here the drives of respective conveyor sections are only powered when material is actually conveyed. At throughput rates of 600 to 1,800 units per hour, this achieves energy savings of up to 50 per cent by comparison with continuously running motors. Moreover, thanks to the demand-driven operation and the elimination of additional driving mechanisms, the noise level and the plant wear are substantially lowered as well.

Preview of Interroll’s new drum motor platform

Modularity and scalability enjoy top priority at Interroll – as is also demonstrated by the new drum motor platform. All motors are available with a widened spectrum of speeds and the high standard of hygiene compliant with IP69k they will be able to cover all conceivable areas of application. Smart plug-and-play solutions make installation even easier. Each motor is tested and designed in modular fashion in such a way that it can be delivered worldwide in the shortest possible time. It will be launched on the market successively in Europe, America and Asia in 2017.
